How long does the Studienkolleg last?

A Studienkolleg typically lasts two semesters (one year). In exceptional cases, the duration may be extended.

Is there a fee for Studienkolleg?

State Studienkollegs are usually free of charge, with only semester fees to be paid (approx. 100-300 € per semester). Private Studienkollegs charge tuition fees.

Application & Admission

What are the requirements?

You need a school leaving certificate that qualifies for university studies in your home country, German language skills at least at B1 level, and must pass the entrance examination.

When can I apply?

Application deadlines are July 15 for the winter semester and January 15 for the summer semester.

During the Studienkolleg

Can I work while studying?

With a student visa, you are allowed to work a maximum of 120 full days or 240 half days per year during your Studienkolleg.

What are the chances of success?

With regular attendance and active learning, there are good chances of passing the assessment test. The success rate is around 70-80%.
